Our Approach

Tanko Tennis is a unique mentoring venture that focuses on coaching and mentoring girls and women of all ages through tennis.

Tennis is more than just a sport! Beside helping with physical wellness, it also contributes to mental and emotional strength. It's about discipline and committment, but it's also about confidence, joy and friendship.

More than just a tennis program, Tanko Tennis strives for a strong connection and going beyond just coaching and mentoring. Embracing the slogan "Fueled by Faith," Tanko Tennis aims to make a life-long positive impact by instilling values of faith, community and giving back.

My name is Yoke Tanko. I am of Chinese descent, born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. I started playing tennis when I was 10 and immediately fell in love with it the first hit. I played junior tennis until I came to the United States in 1994. I received a full scholarship and played NCAA Division I Tennis for Nicholls State University for four years.

Tennis has given me so much! Education, friendships and to be married to my best friend, among many other things. I would love to give back! I look forward to having the opportunity to connect with you and share the joy this sport can bring.
